For 2017 and newer L5P Duramax trucks, here’s what you need for a full delete:
Unlocked ECM: You’ll need to unlock the ECM, either with an E41 unlock tool or by purchasing a year-specific unlocked ECM. We recommend the E41 unlock tool for its ease of use.
HP Tuners MPVI3 OBD Device: This device is required to interface with your truck and load custom tunes.
Tuning Credits: You'll need 8 credits from HP Tuners to apply your tune.
Year-Specific CAN Plug Kit: This kit ensures compatibility with your specific vehicle model year.
DPF-Delete Pipe or Full Delete Exhaust: Choose either a DPF-delete pipe or a full delete exhaust system depending on your goals.
EGR Unplugged (or Removed): For best results, it’s recommended to fully remove the EGR.
Tune Package: You’ll need a custom tune created for your truck’s specific setup.
Important: Make sure your ECM is free of any emissions-related error codes (DTCs) before starting the process.
Requirements: You will also need a Windows computer for the software.

Getting Started with Your Tune
After you’ve received all the parts, the first step is to install the latest version of VCM Suite BETA. This is essential for sending us your read file and info log, which we’ll use to create your custom tune.
Note: You do not need the HP Tuners TDN phone app. All you need is the VCM software for Windows.
Once you receive your tune files, load them into your truck before performing any mechanical modifications.
AIO Kits for Simplified Tuning
Our AIO kits come with the HP Tuners E41 unlock tool. We recommend unlocking your factory ECM because replacing it can lead to additional complications, such as needing to perform a Crank Relearn and having the immobilizer reprogrammed at a dealership.
The E41 unlock tool does not use credits, and it can unlock multiple ECMs, saving you both time and hassle.
