This walkthrough applies to Ford Powerstroke, GM Duramax, and Ram/Nissan Cummins diesel trucks. The setup and flashing sequence is identical across all three platforms — anywhere a step is platform-specific, it's called out separately. Read through the whole guide once before you start wrenching.

Get Tuned First — Don't Pull Emissions Parts Yet
If you're planning an EGR delete, DPF delete, or any other off-road/race-use component swap, the correct tune needs to go on the truck first.
- Hold off on pulling any factory emissions hardware until your tune is installed and verified.
- Pulling parts early can leave you stranded with a truck that won't run right until tuning support is available.
- Seeing emissions fault codes already? Reach out to a support tech before you touch anything.
Platform-Specific Notes — Check This First
The bulk of this process is the same no matter which truck you're running. A couple exceptions to keep in mind:
The following trucks require an extra engine bay bypass cable partway through the tuning process (details in Step 5):
- 2018-and-newer Ram Cummins
- Nissan Titan Cummins
Head into Vehicle > Functions and make sure your tire size is entered correctly. Getting this wrong can throw off your speedometer, mess with shift points, and cause other drivetrain quirks.
Linking Up With Your Technician
Before any custom files or data logs can move between you and your tuner, your EZ Lynk device has to be linked to them. Here's how, if you haven't done it yet:
- Get the device online and launch the EZ Lynk AutoAgent app.
- Tap the three-line menu icon in the upper-left.
- Choose Vehicle (or My Other Vehicles) and pick the truck you're setting up.
- Go to Technicians, then Lynk.
- Hit the “+” in the upper-right to type in the technician's email manually.
- Type in the address shown below, then tap Next to confirm.
Most tune files are turned around within one business day (24 hours) of linking, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM PST. Anything submitted after hours, on a weekend, or on a holiday gets picked up the following business day. You'll get an email notification once everything's ready to download.
Grab the EZ Lynk AutoAgent App
Head to the Apple App Store or Google Play and install the AutoAgent app, then:
- Launch the app
- Tap “Create Account”
- Fill out the account setup
- Confirm your email when it asks
Make sure your phone or tablet is running the newest OS update available for smoother performance.

Hook Up a Battery Charger
Before you flash the ECM, get a battery charger hooked to the truck and set it to a steady 10-amp-or-higher charge.
The ECM and TCM don't tolerate voltage dips well during a flash. A drop in voltage can interrupt the write and cause the tune to fail — worst case, it can brick the module entirely.
- Leave the charger hooked up for the full flashing process, start to finish.
- Don't cycle or shut off the ignition mid-program unless the app tells you to.
- Keep the doors shut while the ECM is actively flashing.
Key to RUN — Don't Start the Truck
Turn the key to RUN, but don't crank the engine. If your truck has push-button start:
- Push the START button without your foot on the brake
- Confirm you're in full RUN mode, not Accessory
- Leave the engine off
This wakes up the control modules so the AutoAgent can talk to the ECM.
Plug the AutoAgent Into the OBD-II Port
Find the OBD-II port under the dash on the driver's side and plug in your EZ Lynk AutoAgent.
You only need it plugged in while you're:
- Loading a new tune
- Watching live engine data
- Pulling or clearing trouble codes
- Logging data or running diagnostics
Feel free to leave it connected all the time if you want ongoing access to the live gauges and monitoring tools.
Cummins Only: Install the Bypass Cable (If It Applies to You)
Running a Powerstroke or Duramax? Skip ahead to Step 6.
These trucks need the Engine Bay Bypass Cable installed before you flash. Follow the instructions packed in with the cable kit, get it wired up, then come back here to continue.
Pair Your Phone or Tablet With the AutoAgent
Open Wi-Fi settings on your mobile device and connect to the AutoAgent's network. It'll look something like:
- EZLYNK_####
You'll see a checkmark next to the network once you're connected.
Your phone might flash a “No Internet Connection” message while connected to the AutoAgent — that's expected and won't cause any issues.
From there:
- Launch the EZ Lynk AutoAgent app.
- Let it pull your truck's VIN automatically.
- Verify it's talking to the vehicle successfully.
Once connected, the app will show which technician account is linked to your device.
Downloading & Flashing Your Tune Files
After your technician sends the tunes and the link is accepted, they'll show up inside the app.
Not seeing your files?
- Close out of the app
- Make sure your device has Wi-Fi or cellular data
- Relaunch the app so it can sync with the EZ Lynk servers
Where to find them:
- Menu (top left) → Select Vehicle → ECU Profiles
To flash a tune:
- Tap the Cloud icon next to the tune you want
- Select it once it's downloaded
- Tap “Install”
- Follow the prompts until the flash finishes
- Voltage needs to stay steady the whole time.
- Don't unplug the AutoAgent, touch the ignition, or back out of the app mid-flash.
- Hold off on disconnecting anything until the app confirms the flash is done.
Only the most recent tune might show in the app — that's normal. The ECM and TCM are flashed separately, and one won't overwrite the other.
Wrap-Up Checklist
Run through this list before you call the job done:
- AutoAgent paired up and communicating with the truck.
- VIN pulled correctly.
- Right vehicle profile selected.
- Tire size verified under Vehicle > Functions.
- Correct tune file matched to your truck and setup.
- Bypass cable installed if you're on a 2018+ Ram Cummins or Nissan Titan Cummins.
- Flash completed clean, no errors or interruptions.
- App verified the ECU programming went through.
- No trouble codes popped up after flashing.
- Truck fires up and runs the way it should.
- All tuning gear unplugged and put away.
- Took it for a test drive to confirm everything's good.
